“This is not only a lovely hotel in a great location. The young team go out of their way in every regard: great, local food in their restaurant, very comfy bed and rooms, and the small things which make a difference: I note for example their sustainability efforts: biscuits and condiments in the room in refillable glasses, same with bathroom stuff (including toilet paper by ‘who gives a crap’), fresh milk in a fridge on the landing - no plastic or waste anywhere. Why can’t all hotels follow? ”

“Absolutely great place to stay if you're in Ilfracombe. Backs onto the very pretty harbour area, really good value breakfast and the pub is friendly, great beers but not noisy at all. Our room got a little warm and the mgt instantly upgraded us to a two-room suite opposite and the general service and friendliness of the team who manage the Royal Britannia would be a major reason for going back as well as the beautiful spots immediately around the hotel. Great job and thank you Royal Britannia...

“The Carlton Hotel is our favorite spot to stay in Ilfracombe. The location is good, being on same level as the harbour for easy walking, and with it's own parking area. The rooms are always spotless and extremely well maintained and the staff are very frindly and helpful. ”

“The room was clean the bed was comfortable - the staff were very friendly and helpful - its lovely to see pets are welcome - the food was tasty and always freshly made - we didnt use the pool it was too cold outside - will definitely stay again ”
