In it's time the hotel would have been very regal but although clean and tidy it is in great need of refurbishment. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, easy chair, desk and tea/coffee making facilities. An ironing board and iron stored in a cupboard with plenty of coat hangers. Overall we enjoyed our one-night stay at The Royal.

The pool is payable and really naff. It costs £20 for 2 adults and 2 kids (both under 5). Food is good and breakfast was good too. Room decent but incredibly hot.

Its in a great location interior of rooms a little dated does need updating tv didn't come on to channels but I wasn't there to watch tv we didn't eat in hotel also not a lot of choices of beers but I definitely would stay there again as I like the old feel of hotel out of 10 I would score an honest 7 and a half..staff all very helpful ...Scarborough the main street needs serious updating not nice to see shops closed up

The pictures on this hotel looks amazing until you get there and was not very good mould in the bathroom there was a mirror to get ready next to but with no plug socket nearby to do my hair the room was big and a nice sea view but only if the owner would spend some money in this hotel it would be a great place to stay says on there website that u can pay extra £9 per day for parking but there was not no parking nearby and had to walk 10 minutes to a car park

The Royal is a very quirky old building so you have to expect a certain amount of oddness about the place. It is annoying cash only, this always bugs me as I like the choice. We didn’t make it into the pool area as it was full to capacity(very small pool are). If the girl who runs the pool deck is needed skewered they simply lock it up. The hotel seemed under staffed but most of them were helpful, Brittania hotels( the worst in the country 10 yrs running) are not investing any substantial money into this place and it shows. Great location and the evening bar was pretty good. There was a leaking ceiling near our room and the lifts only service a number of rooms.

The staff without exception were very friendly and helpful. The main entrance and bar area is good, but slightly tired. We had breakfast one morning and that was very good. Our room was on the 4th floor. The carpet in the corridors was stretched, rumpled and clearly seen better days. Our room was poor. We had a small double bed, one side of which was tight against a wall. There was virtually no room to walk around. One side of the wardrobe was propped up with a piece of wood to make it level as the floor slopes. The bathroom was ok, though the shower cubicle was tiny. There was orange lime scale stains around the base and signs of mould on the top.

We thought the room was lovely. Well decorated with lots of nice touches. The two staff I spoke to were polite and helpful. Our room had a lovely view of the beach. The parking was quite easy in the multi store in the precinct. The room was clean but could do with a few finishing touches, like for example a hole in the floor which had been filled in but not finished off properly. The bathroom needs a blind at the window. The shower gel bottle in the bathroom was empty. Didn’t have breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Lovely big comfy bed. Whilst the room was clean and comfortable the decor was a bit tired. It was a hot day and the only method of cooling was a small fan and we couldnt open the windows. Also the curtain runners need sorting as we couldnt close one of the curtains properly Staff were friendly and efficient and breakfast was very good.

Although an old building and in need of some TLC and upgrading in parts I love it here ( have stayed numerous times). The location is perfect as it’s close to the beach but also the town centre. The staff are always to hand in times of questions and queries.
