“Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.”

“This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.”

“We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!”

“I was here for work, so slightly different priorities. But I enjoyed breakfast in my room and the whole order the night before set up, which included the time you wished to eat. Breakfast was good. this also meant the room had a table, which in my situation was very useful. Tea and coffee etc could be replenished from hall box. Good quality toiletries. Comfortable bed. Car parking on site, in fact very convenient all round.”

“We got to this property by chance. What a fun surprise. It is an old but very well kept inn. It has many beautiful hikes around. It is in the middle of nowhere. And that makes it even more fantastic. ”

“Stayed whilst visiting the Lakes. Hotel was perfect for us as a family with children age 10 to 16. The buffet breakfast was a good selection, children loved the pancake machine. We also loved the pool, you had to pay extra but I felt this was worth it, the pool was a good size and steam room, sauna and jacuzzi nice for adults to relax. The hotel had a nice atmosphere, nice reception area with lovely open fire to sit by.”

“The room was gorgeous and Sue is the kindest person. Lots of attention to detail and the little things that make your stay special. One issue was low water pressure in the shower due to a temperamental electric device that runs the shower head.”
