“Excellent place to relax and let it soak in”

“3 nights in late July. Hotel is a great place to stay to experience the Lake District, not far from Ambleside but remote enough to feel like you are really in nature. Staff and breakfast were excellent. Walk up to Stickle Tarn was a good test with a couple of scrambly bits but well worth it once you got there.”

“Really lovely stay. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and well kept, with a modern bathroom. The spa was excellent, and it was especially nice to relax in the hot tub overlooking the mountains. Breakfast had a great range of options, including a hot breakfast and continental selection, and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay again. The only slight downside was the £10 parking charge, although I appreciate parking in the area is limited.”

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. “Low Wood Bay Resort is a fantastic hotel in an absolutely beautiful location, surrounded with great activity options and great options of its own. The hotel is very nicely finished with a historic Inn at its core surrounded by more expansive modern facilities. “Lovely place to stay especially for the price for a one night stop”

“Our room was two flights up and had a good view. The shower and hairdryer were poor on power and effectiveness but we did have a lovely bath after a long walk. The bed was a little uncomfortable and a bit stale smelling but roomy and light. Breakfast was 8:30-9:30 which was late for walkers trying to get an early start, but they do take away lunches. A mixed bag overall but we paid £136 for a double room and expected more for the price.”
