“Check in was easy and the staff were very considerate and helpful to inform you of the hotel and where your room was. The rooms are modern and clean which is great. Some small complaints though. The rooms can be very cold and my radiator didn't seem to work. Additionally, this wasnt helped by the fact the shower only seemed to get warm not hot. During my stay there was also no mention by staff of there being a function being on the first floor (the rooms back onto the function room on this...

“Lovely owners who were very welcoming. Right in the middle of town and almost next door The Prince of Wales pub. Very good breakfast. Lovely room and nice comfy bed. Highly recommended.”

“A dying village in the middle of the moors. The property was very old and while an attempt had been made to bring it back to life, the result is a very dated premises with poor plumbing. The hosts were very friendly and informative. Access was given the the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and garden.”

“The Blue Lion is ideally situated for a stop over when making a long journey to Cornwall. The room was well equipped and comfortable. There is some traffic noise from the road, but that did not spoil our one night stay. The staff were welcoming and the locals were friendly. The evening meal was excellent. I would stay here again if travelling in this area.”

“We travelled as a couple with our dog. From arrival all staff were very friendly and welcoming and explained local walks (with a map) that we could do with our dog. The room was exceptionally well kept and clean with lovely finishes. We had a balcony looking out over lush gardens and we could hear the river flowing which was beautiful. “It was a wonderful, yet too brief, one night stay. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our meal in the informal dining/pub options was nourishing and delicious. The room was clean, large, and bright. We were able to get a room facing back garden and with views. A big pot of tea and a freshly pressed coffee were very nice at breakfast. Local walks on the moor, and to the quarry & rocks and were fab.”

“A character historic pub in a nice rural location, although roads are very Devon and narrow in places! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good food and service with a selection of beers with real ale under gravity from the cask. Very popular with diners on a Saturday night. Room reflected the nature of the property but was clean and comfy. Good selection and quality for breakfast. Went with trad English but kippers and salmon on offer.”
