“The Woolly Sheep is a lovely base for a trip to Skipton and the surrounding area. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and maintained with plenty of storage available should you need it. The restaurant and bars are comfortable and the food is very good. Being summer, we made use of the outside courtyard to sit and enjoy a lovely glass of chilled wine! “The best asset of the property is its location. Specially, if you have a room facing the canal site, which is quieter the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic to help. That does not overcome the fact that if you have a room on the third floor you have to lugg your suitcase, up four flights of stairs. Rooms start on the second floor. You want room the second floor . I did not have hot water for my shower and did report this to the staff, but there was no resolution. I did however have hot...

“Staff were very pleasant, friendly and exceptionally helpful. The decor in the room was beautiful and it was very clean with plenty of tea making facilities including ‘proper’ mugs and a teapot with tea cosy which was a lovely extra. However the room was very, very small and it did not have any drawers or wardrobe to store clothes (there was a small rail in the corner with four hangers to hang a few items). The en-suite was also very small but it was supplied with lovely White Company...

“My husband and I stayed two nights in June while exploring the Yorkshire Dales. The location is excellent, in a quintessential Dales village, with a number of fun shops and eateries. The room was simply furnished but perfectly adequate. Be aware there are a number of steps, and the tub/shower is deep to step into, so not a good choice if you have accessibility issues.”

“The Skipton Hotel was well appointed for a short towpath walk to Skipton centre. It had a lovely view, staff were generally helpful, and breakfast was fine. Our room though (a studio on floor 5) was baking hot and when we complained about this we got given an extra fan. It wasn't just that the weather was hot (it was) but the generators and other plant equipment sent heat through the floor into the room making it sauna like. We feel we should have asked to be moved but didn't want to complain...

“Very comfortable bed and very clean linens. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent food and service. Fantastic location just outside Settle. Would stay here again. New carpet and removing visible mould from grouting in shower as well as dog free rooms would have made this a 5 star stay.”

“My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful - we ate in the bar on the first night - tasty food and HUGE potion size. The room was large (twin beds) and both the room and bathroom were clean and well maintained - this is an old building which was part of its charm. The breakfast was continental - had everything we needed. We booked a second night which wasn't planned.”

“Lovely quiet location, superb room in the cottage opposite the main pub. Food was lovely and catered for my gluten free requirements. We only stayed one night but would love to go back with our dog and check out the local walks for a weekend.”
