“This is an Honest Review of our stay October 2026. Upon arrival we found the main door was locked. There was a hand written note on the door saying the pub/restaurant was shut due to an electrical fault. Fair enough this is beyond the control of the hotel. “Room was clean, lift didn’t get swept in the 5 nights I was there and had a lot of dried mud in it. I extended by a couple of nights because my friends were still there and reception man wasn’t very helpful. Had to do it online, even though I would have had an alumni discount if I did it at the desk. The map is entirely unhelpful for the parking if you don’t know your way around campus. “Our room was well maintained and we like staying in unique, historic properties. A bath in the nook in front of the window seemed a little strange. We thought a sofa with a coffee table would be a more relaxing option after a day of sightseeing. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The state of the beer garden is a shame. “Perfect place for rest”

“We travelled as a couple with our dog. From arrival all staff were very friendly and welcoming and explained local walks (with a map) that we could do with our dog. The room was exceptionally well kept and clean with lovely finishes. We had a balcony looking out over lush gardens and we could hear the river flowing which was beautiful. “Wow! We liked everything about our stay. The directions were spot on (not always easy in the UK) and the on -site parking was an added bonus. The location is walking distance to The Valley of Rocks in Exmoor National Park, and to the super cute “Old Town” area of Lynton. Our room was spacious and stocked with everything we needed to feel like we were in a deluxe hotel. My husband was especially impressed by the complimentary cake. “Lots of parking at the rear of the pub. Food was amazing & choice of drinks. Our room was lovely. Good size, bed was amazing and en-suite with bath. The inn had a lot of character. Very quiet village so we spent the evening in the pub with other couples staying at the Inn.”
