Very quirky which we loved, ideally situated for the Shambles. Really enjoyed York and staying at the Hocus Pocus really added to the whole experience.

This is a cute little hotel! We really enjoyed the themed rooms and location. The one thing it could improve on is the quality of the bed but otherwise it was great.

Right in the middle of the Shambles, this hotel couldn’t be more convenient. It is also wonderfully quirky and delightful. Well worth a stay.

I went for a one night stay with my mum, we really enjoyed our stay and loved the theme of our room! We especially loved how the bunk beds looked like they were in a train carridge! It suited our idea of a Harry Potter trip, will definitely be coming back again.

Great location, right in the City Centre. A small but very different room giving the feeling you have travelled back in time, but with a little modern comforts. Heating and fridge!!
Expensive, but then so is all accommodation in York.
Quirky, bit pleased we have ticked this one off our list of places to stay. Probably not suited to an extended stay, one or two nights only. But an experience. 👍

What a fun magic themed hotel. Perfectly located. The bathrooms were excellent and the shower pressure was great. If you have trouble with stairs, make sure to get a first floor room. We loved it.

Incredibly Quirky venue, location was absolutely fantastic for our stay in the city, ( would strongly recommend using the train network in future ) parking was easy to obtain, but the costs extremely high circa £2.95 per hour upto £3.50 per hour . The city is absolutely beautiful with incredible options on Dinning and Socialising

This is a wonderful quirky little place. Really nice idea. Well executed to provide something different but in keeping with the York vibe. Highly recommend it if you want to something out of the ordinary.

Had the most magical stay at this hotel! I stayed in the sorceryum room and i felt like i had been transported back in time. My bed was so comfortable and i slept like a dream. Havnt stopped talking about this hotel since iv got back home, and many people now want to experience it for themselves. I will definitely be back

Easy access to the property using the self check in instructions sent to us prior to arriving. Upon entering our room in the property we couldn't help notice the smell of what i can only imagine is sewerage.
The appearance and decor is really good and very detailed.
I think the price of £190 per night is a bit steep for what you get and because of the bad smell we wont stay here again.

The location is unbeatable but amenities were sparse - like towels - and it felt like the decor was more important than the comfort factor. The bed was uncomfortable, there were no pegs to hang up your 2 towels, and there was no air flow. Just a fan. It felt like more of an AirBnb than a hotel. If you’re looking for a place where there’s someone to greet you and help you with extra needs and/or recommendations- this is not the place to be.

The only thing that made me uneasy about staying at this ADORABLE hotel-we felt completely alone. We were emailed a passcode to enter the hotel and another code to enter our room. We never had any interaction with staff. We didn’t feel very safe because of this. The hotel itself is very magical-as if you are inside Hogwarts (Harry Potter).

This was a wonderfully unique property. This property can be noisy as there is a bar next door. We stayed on a Monday night so we had no issues. This property is very well done and the owners really took their time in setting up the decor. It’s location within the walls couldn’t be better. It iwas a quick walk from the train station. The rooms are quite small, but everything you need is there. We stayed in the librarium with our 2 older teenagers and it was just fine for a night. If you are looking for a unique place to stay, we would recommend this property to anyone looking to go to York.
