Very quirky which we loved, ideally situated for the Shambles. Really enjoyed York and staying at the Hocus Pocus really added to the whole experience.
We absolutely loved our stay at this fun tiny hotel? The beds were very comfortable and the location Fantastic, l think everyone coming to York should spend at least one night here, l definitely will come back again
Great hotel and theme. Room was warm. Due to age of building air conditioning not available, fans provided however so thank you. Amazing location right next to The Shambles.
Such a quirky and unusual place. We had a 'spooky' wedding 2 years ago and it seemed fitting to celebrate our anniversary in such a witchy wonderland. We spotted something cool everytime we moved. The room was very comfortable and despite being close to a busy area you couldn't hear much when you were inside. Once you close the door to the main street the decor and sounds whisk you off to your own little magical bubble. We would highly recommend and definitely will be back!
Lovely, quirky property, a unique experience. It was very hot outside and no opening window in room but air coolers kept it reasonably cool and also fridge in room to keep drinks cold. Great location right in the centre of everything, but wasn't disturbed by any noise. Good size room. Only negative was mattress wasn't great so didn't sleep too well, or maybe that was because of the ghosts.
Great location, right in the City Centre. A small but very different room giving the feeling you have travelled back in time, but with a little modern comforts. Heating and fridge!!
Expensive, but then so is all accommodation in York.
Quirky, bit pleased we have ticked this one off our list of places to stay. Probably not suited to an extended stay, one or two nights only. But an experience. 👍

Easy access to the property using the self check in instructions sent to us prior to arriving. Upon entering our room in the property we couldn't help notice the smell of what i can only imagine is sewerage.
The appearance and decor is really good and very detailed.
I think the price of £190 per night is a bit steep for what you get and because of the bad smell we wont stay here again.
The location is unbeatable but amenities were sparse - like towels - and it felt like the decor was more important than the comfort factor. The bed was uncomfortable, there were no pegs to hang up your 2 towels, and there was no air flow. Just a fan. It felt like more of an AirBnb than a hotel. If you’re looking for a place where there’s someone to greet you and help you with extra needs and/or recommendations- this is not the place to be.
Staff were respectful on arrival and acknowledged when we came even though they were busy cleaning
was a bonus to have early check in and the room theme was gorgeous ! it was unique however played in well to the history of york
Room was clean and amazing central location. Adored the four poster bed
Beautiful unique hotel in an amazing location. Leave the real world behind and get lost in a magical world. Would definately stay again 💓

Adorable room, fun theme, perfect location, clean! Only complaint was it was a bit hot and no central air conditioning. We enjoyed our stay in August. The property is aged but sort of goes with the theme. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would recommend and stay again.
This is a cute little hotel! We really enjoyed the themed rooms and location. The one thing it could improve on is the quality of the bed but otherwise it was great.
