Amazing place

Barbican House was amazing, the owners were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was beautiful so much that we ordered it for our second morning as well. The room was a lovely size and beds were very comfy.

This was a very cute bed and breakfast and the host was beyond helpful. I really can't say enough good things about him! We unfortunately were not able to have breakfast as they don't start serving until 9 and we needed to be on our way for the day by 9 :) The room was clean, although the bathroom could have been cleaner. Speaking of the bathroom, the shower was tiny. The shower in a travel trailer is bigger. If you are a larger individual, or if ladies want to shave their legs, not a chance. It is like being in a sardine can. The other item to note is the location. It is very conveniently located for walking to downtown to see the attractions, however, it is on a very busy intersection which was very loud and had bright lights all night from traffic.

The guest house is perfect location for York centre and the host was very friendly and helpful room was spacious and had very good choice of facilities compared to hotels where limited choice if tea and coffee in room and also bathroom even had ear buds for example we would definitely stay here again if visiting York

What a wonderful guest house. Our beautiful room overlooked the city walls and gate. We had great beds and were within a short walk to the city center. Durga, the owner, ensured we had all that we needed, including a place to park. We would happily stay here again.

Lovely place

Barbican House is lovely. Very comfortable bed and room was decorated very nicely. Breakfast with tea was wonderful ( you need to order the night before and it is an extra charge). Durga is lovely and even ordered a taxi for me to get to the airport.

The hosts are super-friendly and attentive to all guests. My experience was excellent. The location is at a busy crossroads so there can be noise from traffic in the early hours. Fortunately the owners installed some fans which help distribute cooler air round the premises.

A real Gem

We booked the Barbican House as we had tickets to see Paul Weller at the Barbican. From the minute we arrived they were so helpful. The room itself was spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We hadn't booked breakfast but decided to order as we arrived, the cost was £15 each per night, it was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and then a full English with gorgeous bacon and sausages. Nothing was too much trouble for the host, he was so lovely. We had such a wonderful stay we didn't want to go home. Would definitely stay here again it's a gem of a place. Thank you again for your hospitality.

The owner, Mr Durung is such a nice man, friendly, helpful and with an impeccable military background too. My room was very nice. Lovely furnishings, clean en suite bathroom with a nice shower plus multiple tea tray options and plenty of milk and sugar which is often kept to a minimum at other places. The bathroom toiletries (The White Company) are not cheap and they smell absolutely lovely. The B & B is well situated with the nicest smelling fauna on the exterior corner. Access to the city wall, the Shambles, Minster and all that York City centre has to offer is a convenient short walk away. The only downside for me was the noise of the traffic outside but that's a personal slant as it wouldn't be an issue for a heavier sleeper. All in all, I would throughly recommend Barbican House. The 'No vacancies' sign was displayed while I was there and I can totally understand why it's such a popular place to stay.

Great location and nice to be able to park there- York is NOT an east place to park. Room was comfortable and clean. A very charming place overall, and very good value. Not pleased that the breakfast was unavailable to us- as we hadn't booked it. We were late arriving the previous evening, but were not asked about breakfast the next morning. One usually assumes the 2nd B in B&B is a given- even if it costs extra, as is advertised. But we woke up expecting breakfast and were told we should have booked it the night before. The place is renowned for its excellent breakfast, but had to find it elsewhere. Some better communication would be beneficial.

we stayed at Barbican House as we were going to the Barbican theatre, 2 minutes walk away. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee to choose from. Breakfast was good to. Parking was a bit tight but the owner parked the car for me and it fit in well.
