“Lovely hotel in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. No breakfast, but could be arranged albeit for an extra fee, and a bit too late for walkers. Comfortable bed and bedding. TV and wifi worked well.”

“Loved the old 17th century beams in the rooms and the uneven floors. Property was very quiet - even with the Football World Cup semi-final on while we were there. Staff were all incredibly helpful and loved the breakfast. 100% recommend and would love to take my dog next time as they are very dog friendly (they get a sausage at breakfast!).”

“The property was very unique. Waited over 45 min to be checked in. Arrived at the room up 4 flights of stairs with no elevator. No help at all! The room was at an angle. So everything was moving to the left of the room. Bathroom was modern but had nothing in the shampoo and shower gel dispenser. Had tea and coffee but no kettle. It was a vile stay. But the bed was good. Ok check out I was verbally assaulted by the chef who was doing check out. Avoid this place. It’s not a hotel it’s a castle as...
