“We stayed at the Brace of Pheasants for one night and it was really lovely. The room was big, airy and beautifully furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was lovely. We ate dinner in the pub and it was absolutely delicious. I am coeliac and Matt, the owner, was very knowledgeable when helping me to decide what to have. The decoration of the whole venue is incredible with so much to look at. There is a lot of car spaces but the area is very busy so it’s a bit of a search to find one.”

The breakfasts are particularly enjoyable with a plentiful range for self-service. The outdoor swimming pool was heated, despite it being October when we stayed there. There is also a small indoor pool...

“The hotel is very well run and the hosts are very helpful. The rooms are a decent size. Although it took a while for the water to warm up in the shower. I acknowledge that this is beyond the owner’s control, but my second floor room overlooked a junction and the traffic was noisy . At about 4am a lorry collected the empty glass bottles. The noise of the crash as the glass shattered was shocking. Avoid a roadside room on a Wednesday morning….if you want undisturbed sleep.”
