“Friendly and helpful staff, good food, plenty of space to just "chill out". Close to canal and town centre.”

“We thought the room was not worth the price. It was a bit shabby and lacked the extras with a room that price. Early evening we saw two rats outside on our patio. There was a lack of staff at certain times and this was communicated to us when asking for breakfast. The bar and gardens were lovely, they were very helpful with our food choices but the Sticky toffee pudding was not to a good standard.”

“We had a fantastic time , Jenny is a prefect host. We arrived in the afternoon, used they pool and garden, then the next day she allowed us to use the pool again after check out time. Breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and cosy. It was a very hot day/night, she provided a fan and we managed to stay cool. Turns out she comes from my home town, so we had a lot to chat about. We just needed some peace and quiet to relax after a difficult week. Thank you Jenny for a wonderful stay.”

“Angenehmes willkommen, essen auch für Vegetarier und Veganer verfügbar, sehr gut zubereitet. Zimmer liebevoll einrichtet und sauber. Schöne Terrasse mit Blick aufs Tal. Hierher lohnt sich ein Umweg. Für einen Tagesausflug nach Bath perfekt gelegen, anschließend ist hier Ruhe und Genuss angesagt.”

“We stayed in the coach house which was ideal for us with our dog. Dinner - fish and chips was good and the breakfast was excellent. Staff were really accommodating and made us welcome. Really good atmosphere in the bar which was well populated with locals.”

“Not a good experience. I was unable to shower for most of my stay. 1st night - no cold water 2nd night - no hot water 3rd night - no water at all Every time I called reception about it, the responses were dismissive “we know, we’ve called a plumber”. The bed, whilst ok comfort wise, had ill-fitting sheets that revealed bare foam rather than an actual mattress, a headboard that moved if you sat up against it, and I woke with a number of bites. “Had a wonderful stay at The Retreat. Really relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous facilities and comfortable room. Only slight criticism was enough sun loungers by the outdoor pool, could definitely fit some more in so that people don’t have to sit on the grass. There was no one out there to ask for help, and it felt like there was no one really in charge. Same with the restaurant, it felt understaffed and so service was a bit lacking at times. But the staff who did serve us were very friendly....
