I just saw the town on a hotel shuttle bus and found it clean overall. Maihama Station is nice and spacious. Felt safe even at late at night.

"Umihotaru" is like half tunnel and half bridge connected Kawasaki and Kisarazu. It is located in Tokyo Bay. To visit Umihotaru, I took the train from Yokohama. If you have nothing to fill in your plan, here is one of the nice places to visit.
