“What a beautiful hotel. I stayed in a superior double which was very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of storage space, fluffy towels, plenty of hot water and excellent tea and coffee, biscuits and water. The owners were very friendly and made me feel most welcome. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was delicious. You would never go hungry. The air conditioning was a real bonus, although unfortunately it did drip a little water on the floor. My only other niggles...

“Exceptional stay , staff were delightful and very helpful & supportive. Breakfast & evening dinner were incredible , perfectly cooked eggs at breakie and fabulous quality of food for both supper and breakfast - definitely recommend. We had a balcony room which was beautiful , overlooking the cricket pitch and was thing horses and tractors come passed, love it.”

“Lovely old building, beautifully clean and comfortable. Steve and Fiona were very welcoming and kind. Also, they cooked a mean breakfast from a varied menu. It was delicious. The only downside was the lack of parking outside The Bakehouse. It proved to be very difficult but the upside was that approx 60 yards away was a Car Park for only £3.30 for 24 hours! Highly recommend The Bakehouse if you are planning a visit to East Devon.”

“While the stay was just ok, I was disappointed with the support from the hotel team in getting good wifi in room 20. The mobile network was patchy in this place, and on top of that, the wifi in the room was on and off. It disrupted my planned work. Reporting this to the staff did not help. This place would be my last choice next time.”

“Lovely place right by the sea with super friendly staff. Parking also with your room and good food. Hotel is what you expect for the price but staff are wonderful. I don’t like electric showers as you can’t get heating right on them. But that’s normal for these older hotels. Would happily stay again.”

“Clean and tidy. Bedroom smelt like someone had smoked in there before me. Parking good. No staff (which was advertised to be fair and the codes worked!). No hot water for the morning shower and no one to alert. Overall, average but ok for a place to sleep for the night.”
