Ten Boer Vacations

This location is good if you want an affordable hotel that’s walking distance from the canal districts and from the De Pijp neighborhood. The beds were comfortable and the room fairly well equipped. Unfortunately we got woken on the first morning, with “do not disturb” on our door, because the hotel plumbing had backed up and the plumbing access was in our room. Not a great start, our shower backed up with water from the sewers and smelled terrible. The hotel did give us a room to shower in for the day which helped and the staff were great. I’d like to have liked this hotel a lot more than we did, unfortunately starting a stay with a plumbing failure affecting the overall stay isn’t going to result in a five-star experience anywhere though.

The rooms was so small we had trouble getting pass the bed to the bathroom. The bathroom was a joke. When on the toilet I could rest my head on the wall.

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff was not helpful and did not respond to my request to fix the bathroom light despite calling them twice. They also wanted to charge me for room service to just clean my room! The blankets were dirty, the pillows were uncomfortable, the floors were dirty, the bathroom light was broken, and you could hear other people through the walls and on ceiling. I would never recommend this hotel!

Just stayed for 5 nights (which was originally meant to be 3) at the Hotel Jakarta. And honestly, how refreshing it is to find a hotel that actually exceeds our expectations. The room was beautiful, the breakfast was tasty and fresh, the hotel itself is very modern and hip, and the staff were also very helpful & friendly. But on that, my partner and I would like to put a shout out in particular for a lovely young lady called Juliette at reception. We had a situation where we had to cancel our riverboat cruise at the very last minute, due to diminishing water levels, and had to pivot to create a new 14 day plan leading to our follow on itinerary in Budapest. We were quite frazzled coming off a 13 hour flight from Singapore, and very tired when we turned up at the hotel. Juliette went out of her way to make us comfortable, assisted us with being able to make the necessary phone calls to our riverboat company back home. Organised an early check-in and even left a nice surprise in our room for our anniversary. If they say a hotel is only as good as it’s staff, then I hope management is looking after Juliette. Because she is an absolute asset to your hotel, & really made us feel like people rather than numbers, when it counted. And a quick tip if you’re staying here, to save you walking unnecessarily to & from the Tram stop, to get to & from Amsterdam train/bus station. Take 43 bus which picks up & drops off right near the hotel’s side entrance.

The hotel was perfect for our 2 day trip to Amsterdam. Located near the train station yet in a quiet neighborhood. Staff was welcoming and very friendly. Highly recommend
