“The Waterwheel Inn was exceptional. We had a garden suite which opened straight out onto the amazing gardens and a small double room. Both were decorated nicely and kept clean. Breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory and was excellent with good choices and nice touches like home-made jams and granola. We ate in the restaurant for dinner several times and had great food every time. Staff were helpful whilst being unobtrusive. Our only suggestion is to advertise the vegan options better as...

“Lovely little gem with comfortable rooms and a fantastic shower. It was a little bit noisy having the window facing the garden Pub but it closed at a reasonable hour!”

“Beautiful friendly historic location. Excellent food, comfortable quiet rooms and a decent size car park. Service was great and the WiFi was good. Sir Francis Drake used to live nearby for history buffs. Deep in the Tamar Valley AONB there's much to enjoy. Phone signal is shaky in Milton Combe.”

“The Blue Lion is ideally situated for a stop over when making a long journey to Cornwall. The room was well equipped and comfortable. There is some traffic noise from the road, but that did not spoil our one night stay. The staff were welcoming and the locals were friendly. The evening meal was excellent. I would stay here again if travelling in this area.”

Our little pooch was also made to feel incredibly welcome and even served with her own little platter of treats. A beautifully clean and well presented restaurant experience that welcomes anyone whether it be special celebrations or a party of hikers that have just conquered Dartmoor. 100% we will be back and bringing friends and family.”
