WARNING - read before booking
I booked this property through expedia. Upon booking I got the following message from the property:
Hi! Please confirm the total number of guests on your reservation (including children, if any), share your email address so we can send the access instructions, and let us know your estimated time of arrival. Also, kindly send the following photos to "*email address*" so your access code can be activated:
(1) photo of the credit card for the refundable deposit,
(2) a selfie for verification,
(3) a photo of your ID.
The expedia site says you have to give them your ID and deposit through a secure site. I would have been fine with that. But sending them my ID and credit card via email is identity theft waiting to happen.
I messaged the site saying this wasn't ok. They asked for my number to discuss over the phone. I gave it. They called me and said this is the only way to get the code to enter the property. I told them I was not willing to send my information this way. She told me then I should just cancel and they would give me a refund. I put in a refund request with expedia. I thought this was behind me. I get a new hotel. At 10pm, after Im in another room and my kids are asleep, I get a refund rejected email. I contact expedia, the property now wants me to call them again directly because they are suddenly willing to work with me. I explain I'm already in another room because I called them 6 hours ago. Doesn't matter, I get no refund
