Vacations Close To Cape Liberty Cruise Port

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional check-in experience at the Robert Treat Hotel. I arrived around 3:00 PM, the stated check-in time, and was abruptly told, “There are no rooms available.” No apology, ETA, explanation, or effort to set expectations. The delay itself wasn’t the main issue—it was how I and other guests were treated. The front desk staff were dismissive and rude. At one point, I was actually offered the option to cancel my reservation rather than having someone take ownership and find a solution. Staff members never properly identified themselves, and one wasn’t even wearing a name badge. Ironically, it took a security employee to step in and help. He went looking for housekeeping, found someone who said her phone had been off, and obtained a list of available rooms so the front desk could finally assign one. I checked in around 3:30 PM. Hotels get busy and delays happen—I understand that. What isn’t acceptable is poor communication, lack of empathy, and making paying guests feel like they’re an inconvenience. Hospitality is a customer-service business. The front desk represents the hotel and sets the tone for the entire stay. Experiences like this can seriously damage a hotel’s reputation. I’ve contacted management and given them an opportunity to address this and make it right. I’ll update my review based on their response.

Room was clean, the staff wonderful. We didn't access the full amenities of the hotel as we were busy enjoying broadway (1-2 blocks away, if that), shopping, and walking. Property is half a block from Time Square. You are in the heart of the fun, the vibration of the city. Sometimes the noise from Time Square expands past the square and it can be a little distracting, so I would request a non-street room. Honestly, a classy hotel where they get to know their guests and they greet you as you come and go. Awesome.

Rain ruined our plans other than that it was great
