I have no idea why people have rated this place so high. I chose this place because she claimed to have wifi. She does not have wifi. She has a cellphone with a hotspot that she never turns on. If she does turn it on, it doesn't work when she takes the phone with her when she leaves. She also turns the phone off when she goes to sleep. I told her twice that I needed the internet to make a very important phone call late at night. She forgot. Turned off her cellphone. I had no internet, could not make the phone call, and I was screwed.

Rock Cascades Homedtay- a real home!

Really very nice home stay near to the lake and the Museum. The landlady is very helpful and does everything to make the stay comfortable . The bycicle is brought to your room, this is the best way to see the sites, also the entrance is quite near. In the evening the landlady cooks a nice curry for you - or whatever you want - and she also has beer! All in all a very agreeable stay. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner though.

Asked for a good review

I booked this place based on reviews here and on another well known review site, and I just cant see it. The woman running this place is friendly enough and does have your interests at heart, but I just found the place fairly run down and not that comfortable. The kitchen was dire. The food was nice enough, but nothing great. The mattress needed replacing. The ceiling fan didn't work. I can ignore these things but the owner went on and on about how she was all alone with no family and no money and that this place was all that she had and her only income. And keep asking for good reviews (to ensure an income) which I felt uncomfortable about. I dont like being guilt manipulated. Plus I was in a room next to the dining room so the TV and radio were loud in my room plus she always did phone calls on speaker phone on full volume. Maybe this is what homestays are like, but I wont be doing another one.

Wonderful experience .... feels like home

The location is very good as all the tourist spots are very near. Rooms are clean and internet works well. Water is always available.The best part of this homestay is the sweet owner of this place ( Nisha ). She is very helpful and kind. She is also a very good cook and prepares delicious breakfast for guests. Nisha will try her best to make you feel at home. She even arranged a cab for us to go to Sigiriya and also drew maps for us to go around the town. Would recommend this as a must try in Polonnaruwa.
