“Positives - breakfast was good and staff was kind in the kitchen. Hotel was quiet. Negatives - two of our travellers left with eye infections that we can only trace back to lack of room cleaning. We were asked if we wanted room clean and said yes - but nobody showed up in multiple night stay and we needed to call a few times to ask for help. When we asked for a one hour late checkout the way we were dismissed because we were “there for hockey” was very disappointing. We won’t stay here again.”

“The parking lot is not convenient to the entry. The registration desk is up a narrow set of stairs. No TV in the room. The shower is extremely small. The bed was comfortable and it's clean but really that should be a minimum. One should also expect some level of hospitality and that was definitely not on offer. The owner is a very rude person. He was unhappy that we booked with Expedia! And didn't include the breakfast because we booked with Expedia. We had to pay extra. His table service was...

“Attractive Victorian House that’s well maintained. Rooms are on the second floor. The lights from a building across the road were on all night—the shades helped, but still a distraction. Updated bathroom. No hair dryer. No TV. Wifi was slow. The owners were very nice. Breakfast was very good. Easy walk to the 3 restaurants in town. Sadly, Pictou is kind of a depressing town, though everyone was very nice. Not much there to see or do. We did a hike outside of town.”

“The best thing about Smith Rock Chalets is the view. To begin, the road in is over a mile (2.2km) of rough gravel. The shower has slightly warm water, at best. The wood kitchen chairs are uncomfortable, and the couch (hide-a-bed) in the loft (TV room) is equally uncomfortable. The bed was fairly soft but not too bad to sleep on. The weather wasn’t great while I was there so we didn’t use the pool or hot tub so can’t comment. I could not recommend the place.”
