Vacations Close To Petrified Forest

The hotel was “fine” Things that bothered us - there’s no counter space in the bathroom - there’s tables but other hotel toiletries are on them already leaving little room for your stuff. The sink faucet pressure was sad - you needed to fill a glass of water up in order to brush your teeth. The shower has no hot water governor on the shower faucet so be careful not to scald yourself. We are guessing this building used to be a motel rather than a hotel so there are spots in the hall that are still exposed outside letting cold air in leaving the halls freezing at times. The front counter staff have little information about establishments in the area and when they did give info it was wrong. The hotel website states a full service dining experience- it’s only breakfast. The breakfast was blah in taste and you are herded in like cattle and the line is out the door to get in even at 6:30 a.m! Probably because it’s free! The staff in the grab and go are so rude it’s almost comical. Honestly the nicest people were the housekeepers- very nice and friendly.

Nice staff,, convenient location, comfortable bed. Shower pressure was mediocre. Room had numerous power outlets - so helpful when we had cellphones, EarPods, battery packs and laptops to charge. Room also had desk chair, club chair and an ottoman - so that more than 1 person can sit. Powell St station is just a 5 min walk away; catch the BART or Caltrain. Many great food options nearby - including GF options which is what we needed. Note - hotel’s location, though convenient, is in a sketchy part of SF, known as “the tenderloin”. Our Uber driver cautioned us not to walk around in certain streets.

As usual, the staff was welcoming, helpful and anticipated my needs before I could even ask! The rooms are just delightful and room service is always excellent. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in downtown San Francisco in a classic hotel.

This is a unique hotel at a great location on the wharf. Uniquely decorated and staff are very nice.
