Cabañas en Old Burghclere

“Nice style, comfy beds, but in a car park next to a busy road junction with a view of a concrete tower block. Close to Newbury high street is nice & pub looked nice. Sink wasn’t clean and there was a leak in the bathroom( with a puddle on the carpet outside the bathroom). To be fair the very lovely staff were keen to sort it out & apologetic, but I couldn’t be bothered with it during our brief stay, so left them to resolve it after. It was fine as basic cheap stay. “The staff were friendly the room was clean. However, plumbing was shocking when a person in another room showered at the same time the cold water pressure dropped and risked scolding. In the room we were in there was poor ventilation with no aircon room was stiffling at night.”

“We thought the room was not worth the price. It was a bit shabby and lacked the extras with a room that price. Early evening we saw two rats outside on our patio. There was a lack of staff at certain times and this was communicated to us when asking for breakfast. The bar and gardens were lovely, they were very helpful with our food choices but the Sticky toffee pudding was not to a good standard.”

“The food was very good and staff great. Grace was a wonderful server. The inn is certainly olde and genuine. Not a pretend olde . Rooms are very unusual with individual names. All are separate from the pub. Obviously the pub is the main venue for the local population. The room was modest size but had two TVs. The shower floods the bathroom. Not a big deal.”
