Nice Family Trip
Had stayed here years ago and the upgrades and remodels were definitely apparent. Good AC and comfortable beds. Could be a bit cleaner, but still an old property that provided great service from check-in to daily room attention.
There was a plastic table and muddy foot prints on the bathroom floor. Enough said.

Room for improvement, it was pleasant
I arrived a little early and got good parking. Had to check in through the night window. Building has no elevators. They are still renovating and it has future potential, but I have to rate it for the hospitality I received ion that day. I am glad the AC worked good. I understand hotels are trying to rent out rooms to recoup, unfortunately the ratings need to reflect a true review of the experience. The area seems secure, no room to turn around, so you have to reverse exit

Very inexpensive for the Bay Area (but beware)
I was going to be late checking in and the operators called me to check on my eta and to tell me that the onsite parking was already full, enabling me to snag the closest on-street slot.
The older couple running the place are very nice and very helpful (especially when I locked my key in my room!).
But as to the condition of the property... just to use 1 issue as an example - the curtains in my room (206) had recently been ripped off the wall (hardware included) and not properly re-attached so to prevent light entering and anyone on the walkway outside seeing clearly into the room I had to take one of the bath towels to cover the huge gap.
Did I complain? No. Should I have? I don't know, it was the cheapest hotel by at least $40 when I did my search and it is very close to the 580 freeway (but not close enough to hear it) which my drive in the morning very easy.
No elevators, dirty room, old, nasty furniture in room

Avoid if you can
This was the worst hotel bed I've ever slept in. The mattress felt lumpy and the pillows were so thin they were almost non existent. The duvet cover had cigarette burns and the whole place stunk of stale cigarettes and scag. The lady at the front desk was a bit gruff at check-in, but the gentleman who joined her was much more personable. No one came to clean my room during my entire stay even though I put out the request for maid service. I killed two large cockroaches. The blackout portion of one of the curtains was torn away. Would not stay here again.
Great room, great service. My only complaint is that the smoke detector was totally removed. That made me feel unsafe. Other than that I was very impressed.

This was a very basic room. Clean and staff was pleasant.
Worst hotel I've stayed at in more than 25 years. Room was sketchy, scratched furniture, bed was literally lumpy. nUp four flights of concrete stairs just to get to the room.
Checking in - a little window near the overcrowded parking lot, where, after I banged on the glass about 5 times in 3 minutes someone finally showed up. Just a bad experience in nearly every way. Don't go, just because it's relatively cheap, it's not worth the money.
This is an example of "you get what you pay for." Inexpensive and relatively conveniently located, but lacking in most amenities. The room had an awkward configuration and cheap furniture. There was harsh overhead lighting but no lamp. The blackout curtain was torn and didn't work properly. The AC barely cooled the room at all. There was no extra toilet paper. The towels were thin and few. Someone had left full bar of Irish Spring and a bottle of shampoo in the shower, and housekeeping hadn't removed it. Etc. The motel also advertises free on-site parking, but there are only about a third as many parking spaces as there are rooms, and the manager advises you that if you leave, you won't necessarily have a parking space when you come back. But it was clean enough and I slept well and it got the job done.
Parking pretty small. Graffiti on doors, bedding filthy with stains. Owners are very nice. Homeless encampment. Noisy and busy area. Do NOT RECOMMEND! Very ols not kept up. Walls dirty.
I wanted someplace cheap, warm, clean, car-friendly, and with wifi. I got all that. I also liked the clerk.
If you want a view, sauna, breakfast, lounge, or valet service then this is not for you. As for me, I'd happily stay there if I go back to Berkeley.
This was a one night stay. The manager was friendly even though I woke him up. I arrived late. The room was the issue. The security lock on the door was broken but the deadbolt at least worked. The sink was loose (not attached to the wall properly) and I am pretty sure that the mattress was old as it creaked when I would turn over.
To start the hotel looks nothing like the pictures on hotel.com has from the outside. The minute I pulled in To the parking area, I knew there would be trouble. It’s did not feel safe. It was too late for me to do anything about it and I need to get to sleep. At around 145am the screaming and fight started, this went in for a while. I called the front office from the land line…no answer. I called from my phone after many rings someone answered. I told them about the fight, their reply was : I Trued to call the police…Tried? I was like you need to do more than try. I could go back to sleep. Also there is no bolt lock on the door. I felt very unsafe. I will say the room was very clean, but that about it.
To hotel.com please do jot rate this as a 6 or ok. This place is not ok.
