“Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage. “Location is quite remote, no restaurants nearby that open after 8pm . The hotel provides BBQ service and have kitchen facilities inside cottage. The rock onsen is good but small. Very friendly people at front desk.”
