“The room was nice and large with a comfortable king size bed. It was in a lovely position. Most of the staff were friendly. The food was fine and not expensive. The breakfast sausages were good.”

“The hotel was out in the countryside with excellent views over the moors. It was very clean and well cared for. Car parking was good. The room size, bed size, etc was great. One small problem - the room lighting was not very bright during the night time. The food was excellent and the staff were great. It was also a great place for walkers with great access to the countryside. I would recommend it.”

“We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there”

“Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.”

“We stayed for 2 nights in a very small double standard room. No storage space,just a bar about a metre long to hang a couple of items on and small bedside drawers .There was a complimentary breakfast provided and tea making facilities but only a tiny stool so breakfast had to be eaten sitting on the bed. All that being said the room was clean and the bed . In the shower room there is a small towel rail but only big enough for hand towels,we had to drape the wet bath towels over the shower door....

“VISITED THIS PROPERTY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO STAY UNTIL NOW. WASNT DISSAPPOINTED EVERTHING FROM THE ROOM, BAR, FOOD INCLUDING BREAKFAST AND OF CORSE THE STAFF. THE ONLY NEGATIVES WERE LIMITED PARKING AND NO ROOM SAFE.”

“Good central location for overnight stop in Penrith with parking. Decent size room, reasonably clean and quiet. Stair carpet filthy though needs replacement. Tea and coffee sachets not replenished, tollet roll holder hanging off wall.”
