“My wife and I stayed at Mara Explorer for 6 nights in September 2023. This was our third Safari in Kenya. The Mara Explorer is the most magical and enchanting location for a safari I could ever imagine. Everything was impeccable - the amazingly friendly and professional staff, wonderful hospitality, service, and beautiful food. “The staff and facilities here are wonderful. If you’re looking for a budget friendly safari, this is it. However, be prepared, there is no WiFi and the meals are limited. Other things like soda, beer, etc, cost extra. It takes some time for the hot water to come in, so start your shower about 10-15 minutes before you actually take one. You also need to book a Safari driver outside of this tented camp, which we had.”

“Visited Ashnil as part of a longer trip. The other Lodges have excellent dinner and lunch meals and service. Here, we were told on arrival that each sitting would cost us a small fortune for what turned out to be very mediocre meals. You are in the middle of nowhere, so paying for these meals left a bitter taste in the mouth for a one-night stay. Service was inferior, period. The bathrooms are horrible - see photos.
