The staff was very friendly, especially Maui who was always very personable. They were so friendly that I bought a Hopia Cake for them to share. A very beautiful hotel. Too bad the bridge that leads to Coconut Island is broken because I was really looking forward to going to it. The WSW Restaurant had great food. In fact, I believe I had one of the best steaks when I ordered the Sizzling Steak.

We had a great stay at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. The highlight was the exceptional customer service, especially from Charla at the front desk. She was incredibly friendly, professional, and patient, even while handling a difficult guest. She truly made us feel welcome. We also enjoyed WSW | The Steakhouse. The bartender was knowledgeable and made great drink recommendations, and our Sunday evening waitress provided excellent service. The hotel could use a few cosmetic updates. We noticed a couple of small stains on the sheets, the bathtub finish was worn in places, and the towel rack in our room was loose. Despite that, the room and hotel overall felt clean, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Overall, the outstanding staff and welcoming atmosphere made this an easy place to recommend. We’d happily stay here again.

We got everything we asked for and needed, but happened to be there during their restaurant remodel. Listening to jackhammers in the lobby isn’t very relaxing. I’m sure my 4/5 ratings would go 5/5 once they’re done.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hawaiian Hilo. The steakhouse on premises had good food but lacked good service (at least during our dinner reservation we had). We stayed on the 8th floor and loved the view from our room. We liked that we could access the ocean directly from the hotel and the pool was nice. Walking distance to the lush park next door and to some restaurants. I did find that the property needed some basic maintenance and cleaning done. We stayed for three nights, and our trash was never taken out, and we had to ask for towels every day. Every night we stayed there we found roaches in our room on the ceiling/floor/bathroom. We would have liked there to be a hot tub.

Amazing on- the- water location, beautiful landscape,, trees like I have never seen before. As in most hotels of this erta, the bathrooms could be re-done but were clean and serviceable. If I remember right, the shower curtain was hung too high, allowing water to ecape to the floor every time the shower was used.

Wonderful hotel! Welcoming, friendly, clean, good bed, wonderful view! The extra money for the ocean view with the view of Mauna Kea over the harbor is totally worth it. We enjoyed sitting on our lanai & watching the fishermen down below, & the sailboats & canoes, & even the freighters. Enjoy!
