“The rooms were clean, the parking is great and if you travel by train its opposite the station. There is no food options for dinner, but you can order in and sit in the dinning room, which is lovely and charming. I love this hotel. I think its run for and by YMCA(but could be wrong).”

“The owner was very friendly and the property was an interesting old building. However, our room was a bit out-dated and the shower unit was a bit mouldy. Also, breakfast was a bit disappointing with powdered scambled eggs and tinned tomatoes.”

“What a beautiful hotel. I stayed in a superior double which was very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of storage space, fluffy towels, plenty of hot water and excellent tea and coffee, biscuits and water. The owners were very friendly and made me feel most welcome. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was delicious. You would never go hungry. The air conditioning was a real bonus, although unfortunately it did drip a little water on the floor. My only other niggles...

“Attending a wedding there. Stayed there for 3 days. Room was clean. Staff were excellent. Good breakfast unfortunately, the room had no air conditioning being downstairs. You had to be careful about leaving the window open, would we stay there again? Yes”

“It had only opened a month before, following extensive refurbishment, so I was expecting nothing less than perfect! But the room we were given smelt bad! Like unclean people had been in there, nothing fresh/clean about it, but we decided to stick with it overnight. The next night.we had an issue with the smart tv-there were no freeview channels & only one app installed, BBC iPlayer, which was ridiculous! We asked for someone to come and fix it. They couldn't, so offered to move us to a different...

“We needed somewhere to stay with our dog and this limits your choices. However, the Golden Fleece was very clean, good supply of refreshments in the room, shower was powerful and hot water plentiful. They even supplied a fan to cool the room, although it wasn't great, it shows a level of care and consideration for guests and was appreciated. The owners we met were friendly and I would definitely consider staying again if we visit the area again. Only negative is they need to remove the cobwebs...
