We had a great stay at The Royal Lion Hotel in Lyme Regis. The location was ideal; the parking was a bonus; the room was large and comfy; and the staff was very friendly and accommodating from booking to check-in and check-out. The hotel is packed with history and added to a wonderful first visit to the popular area.

An historic building in the centre of Lyme Regis, 5 minutes from the beach, with parking. Our room had a fine view of the bay, was comfortable and clean, with a modern shower/toilet. The furniture was a mish-mash of old pieces, but it all worked. The building is old and rambling, with staircases (no lifts). Breakfast was good, the staff were willing but a bit inexperienced. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good. Our vegetarian needs were well met. All-in-all, we had a pleasant short break in this town, the 'Pearl of Dorset'.

Amazing helpful staff, good breakfasts, comfy beds and charming old pub. The icing on the cake is the location- just 2 minutes walk to the beach and other restaurants- plus free parking, which is a rarity in Lyme Regis.

This is a very old property and so of course it does look a little tired in places and the wifi is not so great but they were the only negatives. The hotel is in a fantastic place right in the middle of the High St and it has a car park which is a godsend. The food menu in the bar is excellent for lunches and dinner. Definitely add the breakfast as there is so much choice from cooked oprions to pastries, cereals and fruit and all of the the food was delicious. The staff were so lovely and couldn't help enough. Dawn the manager even let me use the hotel phone when I was having trouble ringing out. I would definitely recommend this place and the bed was incredibly comfortable!

We loved the location, everything a stones throw away. Our room was lovely , had everything we required. Breakfast was always very nice , and a good choice of fruit yogurt and cereals. Staff friendly, and the bonus of free parking definitely influenced our decision to stay at this hotel. No negatives we had a lovely time , and will definitely be back..

We absolutely loved our stay at the Royal Lion. Perfect location, lovely room and great service. Breakfast was a nice experience with plenty of choice. Sharon on reception was really helpful and made check-in and out an easy, seamless experience.

A really enjoyable stay, beautiful comfortable room, great bathroom & toiletries, breakfast was lovely & dinner in the restaurant was very good but the best thing about our whole stay was the staff, they were all so friendly & welcoming & went above and beyond to make out stay very memorable. The hotel is in a brilliant position 2 mins from the beach & shops all around, they were on site parking was a godsend as parking is in short supply in Lyme, I would definitely stay here again, if I did have a complaint the WiFi was very hit & miss & we could only get bbc on the tv but we were out most evenings so didn’t matter too much.

Everyone was very pleasant and helpful, thank you! There is no air conditioning so the upper rooms got very hot - just be aware of you are sensitive to heat because otherwise this is a fantastic place to stay!

Hotel is in a convenient location for town, museum, local mill, galleries, seafront and eateries. Sea views from rooms were distant and somewhat obscured by buildings. Manager, once onsite, was very helpful with helping to identify allergens on the menu. Pool looked inviting but had to be booked ahead of time so presumably only used by one group at a time. Good sized games room with comfy seating round.
