Photo "Die Erdfunkstelle Fuchsstadt vom 100 m höheren Hammelberg aus. Die Erdfunkstelle befindet sich im unterfränkischen Landkreis Bad Kissingen auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Fuchsstadt. Sie wurde von der Deutschen Bundespost gebaut und wird derzeit vom US-amerikanischen Unternehmen Intelsat betrieben. Die Erdfunkstelle Fuchsstadt dient als Bodenstation für die Kommunikation mit Nachrichtensatelliten und ermöglicht unter anderem satellitengestützte Telefongespräche, Internet-Verbindungen und Fernsehsendungen. Zurzeit besteht die Erdfunkstelle aus mehr als 50 Parabolantennen, darunter zwei Antennen vom Typ A mit einem Durchmesser von 32 Metern und etwa 25 weitere mit jeweils mehr als 9,3 Metern.
