Very clean

Formerly the Hotel Midas, Barceló Roma feels like an unsuccessful renovation of a large 1980s hotel. Old, stained carpeting in the corridors, outdated elevators, and dated architectural details undermine the property's appearance. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Despite four receptionists being on duty, check-in took around 20 minutes. We were given two key cards that did not work and, after returning to reception, discovered that the room assigned to us did not match our reservation (twin beds instead of a double). It took almost an hour from arrival to finally access the correct room. The lack of professionalism at reception continued later that evening. When we asked to charge two bottles of water to our room, we were told we had to pay immediately. After paying, the receptionist still asked for our room number, which made the whole interaction feel unnecessary and rather unprofessional. The rooms are simple but renovated with modern furnishings. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is spacious, and cleanliness is good. The clientele is mostly international, and the atmosphere feels more like a budget holiday resort than a first-class hotel. The pool is pleasant and managed by friendly staff, although the sun deck is completely shaded by mid-afternoon. Breakfast, while varied, is below the standard expected for a hotel of this category, with many industrially produced items. Overall, this is one of the most disappointing Barceló hotels
