Wool: Woolbridge and Wool Bridge Woolbridge Manor is an attractive 17th-century manor house which stands alongside the 16th-century Wool Bridge, which no longer carries traffic as the nearby junction has been re-laid a few yards away.

Thomas Hardy Locations, Tess of the d'Urbervilles Woolbridge Manor just north of Wool bridge on the River Frome is where in the novel Hardy placed Angel Clare and Tess for a few days after their wedding while Angel learnt the skills of milling at the mill across the river by Bindon Abbey. It was here where Tess confessed her loss of virginity and subsequent child with Alex d'Urberville and where Angel rejected her to go to Brazil. It is called Wellbridge in the novel

Old and new bridges at Holmebridge The bridges cross the River Frome. The old bridge dates from the 15th century and has been much altered with new brick parapets added after tank training damage during World War One. It is still possible to drive across this bridge, diverting from the B3070 on the right.
