“Clean Room Staff friendly , good location”

“Hotel does need some maintenance doing, our room had some damp in a patch in corner. flakey paint on wall in bathroom. At breakfast there was a bulb going in the main light which was flashing all the time we were having breakfast. Fire exit handle was broken in restaurant and fire extinguisher needs looking at. Food at breakfast was very nice 👍”

“Lovely stay, just a few yards from the sea front. Lisa and Christophe made us feel very welcome. The swimming pool was great and just what you need after a long drive or busy day around Torbay. The breakfasts we enjoyed each morning were delicious and kept us full throughout the day. Would definitely return and highly recommend a stay at the lovely Charterhouse if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Torquay.”

“Property location is great with free transport to Salcombe town or Ferry from beach adjacent to hotel. Hotel room/accommodation had great view but was small. This was disappointing when considering the tariff for two rooms /4 nights accommodation. The bedroom lacked soundproofing, disturbed nights sleep for three nights due to noise from young children in next room, spoke to receptionist with little response! “Staff & breakfast excellent. Room was very clean but it was very hot and the drains smelt at times. This severely impacted my sleep. My rating is purely based on that, suspect if i went when it was cooler it would be different. One easy thing to help would be for the windows to be opened fully.”

“A guest house with great views over the harbour. Very friendly and helpful staff which made us feel most welcome. The breakfast was excellent , freshly cooked and well presented.”

“The hotel is in a beautiful and restful setting. The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant food was brilliant. We enjoyed seeing the peacocks and other birds in the grounds.”

“While there is nothing wrong with this hotel if you just want to sleep there, if you want food or drink find somewhere else. On Friday night they closed the bar at least half an hour early so we couldn’t get a drink, on Sunday they were short staffed so stopped serving food at 7pm so we had to eat crisps and nuts! The hotel is a long way from anywhere to nip and get food and drink, so please make sure you are suitably refreshed before coming back.”
