Vacations Close To Cranborne Chase and the West Wiltshire Downs

I was worried by the negative reviews of this hotel before arriving but circumstances dictated that we would stay here. In fact, the place was actually better than expected - not great but acceptable provided you only need the basics. Yes, the property is tired and in need of a face-lift; the carpets are well-worn, the beds are old, the bar/entertainment area hasn't been used in a long time and the bathroom was very basic. Your room isn't serviced during your stay other than to empty the bin and top up the tea and coffee and there's no fridge (or breakfast, or other meals). BUT the bedding was clean, the room was quiet, even with the window open and the staff were very helpful with directions and dealing with problems (our table lamps didn't work, they were replaced by the same evening). Not many other people were in the hotel during our stay which made the place quiet at night, which was good. Parking is limited but right outside the hotel and the low occupation helped here, we never lacked space to park. It's a bit of a throwback to the 1960s, but that could be said of the whole of the Isle of Wight! We had a comfortable stay, it was very inexpensive, you get what you pay for. so if you don't need pampering and can rough it to some degree, give it a try.

The room at the Lodge was very basic with no fridge, safe or USB charge points. Food was good and the facilities, pool, gym were great. Parking had challenges. Very friendly helpful staff. Good value for money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The Inn is nicely renovated and located near town. It's an easy walk to quaint shopping, restaurants, and the waterfront. Very friendly and helpful staff, and they provide nice snacks and amenities. The rooms have fans and windows that open, but no air conditioning.

Beautiful room. Very clean and it has everything you need. Bed, pillows and duvet are all very comfortable. We paid for our breakfast and it was really nice. We will definitely stay here again for our next visit. Thank you.

everything was fine, apart from the3 TV in our room. the signal was poor, so unwatchable. we were late in our room and left early - so wasnt a huge issue. would love to stay again, but would check TV in room and report. staff all great, place felt very safe and secure. off road parking always a bonus. good breakfast.
