“At check in time of 3pm it was disconcerting to discover the pub was closed with sign on door asking those arriving to ring a mobile number. This we did and someone did appear, promptly, and checked us in explaining that there were electrical issues in the pub but the rooms were unaffected. He confirmed breakfast would still be available and each of our three mornings Kevin arrived and cooked a great breakfast to order. Breakfast was a bit lacking in the extras - not a great choice of cereals...

“Very convenient location, 9mins walk from station and 7mins walk to start of shopping area. Room was pleasant with lovely large bathroom. Clean bedlinen and comfortable bed. Shower was excellent and spacious. Nice to have coffee machine in room. Breakfast was very good and done to order. My only issues were that to access my room i had to use an outdoor fire escape and walk across roof - this was safe and easy to do but not ideal with luggage, nor was it welcoming. “A lovely location and great facilities. Great staff and bar area had a lovely atmosphere. Morning breakfast was delicious with attentive staff. Rooms were very quiet, hotel had a lift which is very convent as the steps are steep to the 2nd floor. The rooms are a little tired and the bathroom window privacy screening is in desperate need of replacement. Kettle is completely scaled up and cups were also dirty so this needs to be addressed.
