Excelled as always. Everything about Crabwall Manor is the best. Fantastic grounds, stunning rooms and attentive staff from the reception to the bar staff to housekeeping. Warm welcome on checking in at reception, passed the keys to room 47 and although it doesn’t really have a ‘view’ the enclosed courtyard was nicely presented. The room was vast with enough space to provide the 2 high back chairs without feeling crowded. Bathroom was huge……(only wish was it had a freestanding bath!!!!) and again nicely decorated. Had drinks and evening meal in the bar, food was as great as was the staff who couldn’t do enough. Peaceful nights sleep with little to no noise from surrounding rooms. 4th visit now and I’m feeling that will soon increase given just how great every stay has become.

Breakfast is not cooked to order, which for the price of the rooms might have been expected, however for a hot buffet it was pretty good and the cold buffet was also good quality. We had room 40, which was extremely spacious and well appointed, and very clean. The bathroom was equally well appointed, but I have one small issue with bath/shower units, that is the very nature of the slopping floor of the actual bath makes them difficult to keep your feet, particularly when getting out after a shower when both feet and the bath surface are wet. One hand definitely needs to be keeping a tight hold of the wall mounted grab handle to prevent a fall.

Staff were helpful as at first we were given a room with just a shower, we asked for a room with a bath and were given one. However the water was lukewarm and even after running it for 10 minutes it never got any warmer so there was no point having a bath. Also no heating in the room apart from a small portable heater that had been put in obviously to replace the central heating. Not ideal. Breakfast was average, sausage and bacon was overcooked and hash browns on the hotplates were nearly cold.

Evening food - very overpriced for the quality delivered. 2 warmish ( I suspect microwaved) satay sticks with side sauce, the smallest and worst medium sirloin (overcooked) I’ve ever had with a few oven chips 1/2 tomato on a mushroom & 2 beers £64. A huge let down. Would not return - there’s too many similar and better options available.
