Overall the hotel was tired looking, but the staff worked hard and were welcoming and friendly.
Earlier reviews had criticised the service in the dining room which was not our experience, however a new chef started on our last day and breakfast was exceptionally slow,which maybe did not bode well!”

“The property was clean,, quaint, and charming. The restaurant was delicious! I had dinner and breakfast the next morning. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had or should I say that I’ve had in Scotland so far. The staff was amazing! Carolyn went above, beyond and out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of, and I greatly appreciate it. The Royal Hotel is lucky to have her.”

“The hotel was nice. The food at the Brassels was better than the Cruzerie (?).
The hotel was pet friendly. The rooms were a great size and comfortable.
Unfortunately, we couldn't do much as you have to book everything in advance. We were not aware that you had to plan ahead.”
