“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. “The staff were great and helpful, Breafast was very good, and our evening meal exelent bar was well staffed in the evening and well stocked , unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was not good , especially the shower, which had black mould on the tiles and shower door was in need of some maintenance, the toilet was not clean behind seat and in the hinges of seat and lid was not clean , and the sink has a large crack in it .”

“Lovely hotel, staff were fantastic and room was cleaned to an okay standard. We stayed for 2 nights and our room wasn’t cleaned, tea/coffee not replenished, no fresh towels, toilet rolls not replenished resulting in me having to call reception for more. That was the only downside to the stay”
