“We loved staying at Albert Cottage. It is a unique property with beautiful historical furnishings and design. The breakfasts are wonderful. There is a lovely sitting room where we played cards. It has a nice restaurant. It is an easy walk to the fantastic Osborne House. There were a couple of small plumbing issues due to the age of the building but they were taken care of and not significant. We stayed in many places during our trip to the UK and loved this one in particular.”

Steak and shiraz with a peppercorn sauce. Breakfast was set out on a full table to help yourself with juices, cereal, pastry, croissants, toast and there were jams a plenty to chose, along with marmite. “Perfect location in Shanklin, wonderful views. It’s just a short walk to the old village and Shanklin Chine. The hotel is a little tired in places but overall it was very good. It’s great that you can use the facilities in the sister hotel next door so there’s plenty to enjoy.”

“Liked everything with one exception. We had booked a superior double room. Upon arrival we were told we were being upgraded. The room was dominated by a super king size bed. There were 4 large lamps and 2 overhead bedside lamps. However no chair and no fridge. I enquired and unfortunately they did not have a spare fridge. I expected a chair and fridge in a superior room.”

“Booked a 3 night stay here.Great location, right opposite Osbourne House. Nice period property and room was spacious but tired in areas (shower had pieces of sealant hanging off and mould on the shower door). It would benefit from a good clean (eg dirty skirting boards, cobwebs, carpet stained). Hotel is situated on a main road so noisy even late at night with the windows open, although that didn't bother us. Had one evening meal here and one breakfast. Food was lovely although breakfast slow....
