“Inn was closed so no food or drink. No notification prior. Looked like I’d be only person the premises. Expedia took payment prior despite instructions saying property would take payment. The inn still expected payment.Ended up being sent to another hotel which was much nicer.”

“The Portpatrick Hotel never fails to disappoint. The location is wonderful but the hotel itself is poor, poorly maintained and no attention to detail by housekeeping when preparing rooms, with empty soap dispensers in the bathroom. The hotel just seems neglected, badly managed and understaffed by people who have little or no training in hospitality. At best the breakfast was disappointing, the hot food in the buffet was edible, but the presentation and other items sadly lacking.”

“Stayed here on a visit to Wigtown in late August 2026. Communication was great with multiple emails confirming reservation and instructions. Although there are no staff of duty the instructions on how to get the key were timely and detailed and we had no problems at all getting in and checking out, and we arrived late. The bunkhouse is clean, smelled fresh, and the rooms were nice. We stayed in rooms 1 & 3 and it was lovely. Also very quite! The bathrooms were modern, very clean, and well...

“Everything great, except that when we booked we informed you that my wife had a breathing problem and used oxygen, and also asked whether you had a lift, to which the answer was yes. On arrival we were given a room on the side without a lift, so my wife was obliged to struggle up and down the stairs. On the side where there was a lift, the sitting room and restaurants required no use of stairs. Obviously you decided to ignore our problem for some other convenience of the hotel management. ”
