Starting from St. Mark’s Square you will cross the lagoon comfortably seated in a panoramic boat driven by a specialized guide that will explain the history and culture of the island.
The first stop is Murano, worldwide famous for its glassblowing art; here you will visit a real furnace where a glass master will create a glass artwork in front of your eyes. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to buy a piece of the local production on-site.
The tour will go on to the picturesque Burano island, celebrated for its lace-making and for the multi-colored fishermen’s houses. Getting off the boat you will take a walk to Island’s Main Square where there is the marvelous San Martino’s Church with the wonderful “Crucifixion” painting by Tiepolo and the famous leaning tower. Visit the “Museo del Merletto” to find out the history of this unique art. Don’t miss the opportunity to buy lace products or go into the pastry store to try the local sweet production – the “Bussolà” and the “Esse” biscuits.
Last, but not least is the quiet and sparsely populated island of Torcello, the first center of civilization in the estuary. On this island, you can admire the oldest churches of the lagoon and discover how Venice was born!
