Around 1,800 years have passed since Valerius last had to fight for his life in the amphitheater. He had dreamed of a life of fame and wealth, fully aware that only a few gladiators could achieve such success. As arena fighters, they eked out a living at the very lowest rung of society.
People admired their courage and fighting spirit, but at the same time despised them as non-free individuals who had to earn their meager livelihood through hard physical labor in the dust of the amphitheater. Only a few manage to survive and buy their freedom. Valerius survived. But at what cost? As he walks through the amphitheater, he recalls all the suffering he has seen and all the blood he has himself shed. He follows in the footsteps of the animals, the gladiators, and the friends who lost their lives within the vast confines of the arena. And he recounts the day that still haunts him to this day: the day he faced his best friend in the amphitheater.
Both shocked and captivated, on this thrilling immersive tour, visitors are transported into a parallel world, into a long-gone era that seems far removed. And yet, Valerius holds up a mirror to them: How much of the struggle between life and death, of the inner conflict between the will to survive and morality, of the competition for power and honor, has survived into our time? And how much of Valerius is in all of us? Judge for yourself!
