Experience the rich African American history of Martha’s Vineyard. Your experienced tour guide will talk about the graveyard and the formation of the NAACP on MV, as well as the connection between the Vineyard’s Grace Church and the one in Mississippi. At North Road, you will hear about Rebecca Amos, her daughter Nancy, and great grandson William Martin. In Menemsha, you’ll hear about the Wampanoag’s helping slaves escape. And in Edgartown you will hear more about Nancy and William Martin, and the Chappaquiddick Plantation. And finally, the Overton House, and its connection to the Civil Rights movement.
