What you can expect
Step into the Arctic wilderness and experience a unique ice fishing adventure on the legendary Lake Inari with a local professional fisherman.
Your journey begins in Ivalo, where you meet your guide and travel by car to a small local harbor. From there, the adventure continues by snowmobile and sleigh across the frozen Lake Inari, surrounded by the peaceful Arctic landscape.
During this 3–4 hour experience, your guide will introduce you to different traditional winter fishing techniques used by local fishermen. Instead of just one method, you will discover several ways people fish in the Arctic during winter. Guests also have the opportunity to try classic Finnish ice fishing themselves and experience the excitement of fishing through the ice.
During the trip, you can warm up by a small fire on the ice while enjoying hot drinks and listening to stories about life and fishing traditions in Lapland.
Fishing has been one of the oldest and most important livelihoods in Lapland and especially in the Inari region. For generations, local people have relied on the waters of Lake Inari for food and income, and fishing traditions are still an important part of life here today.
Lake Inari is also one of Finland’s most respected fishing lakes. With more than 3,000 islands and vast open Arctic waters, it offers a breathtaking wilderness environment and a unique glimpse into northern culture.
This small-group experience combines Arctic nature, local knowledge, and traditional fishing methods into a truly memorable Lapland adventure.
Whether you catch a fish or simply enjoy the silence of the frozen lake, this tour offers a peaceful and authentic Arctic experience far away from crowded tourist areas.
