In two intense, unforgettable hours, we will show you the majestic ruin, full of emotions, hidden details and stories that will touch your heart.
Our adventure together begins at the central meeting point at the Castle Visitor Center. From here, we'll set off to bring the stone witnesses of the past to life. First, the path leads us to the elegant English Building, whose magnificent architecture bears witness to great times. Here, you will get your first impression of the moving history behind the creation of this imposing complex.
A few steps later, we will stand before the romantic Elizabeth Gate – a legendary token of love made of stone that will immediately captivate you. Here, you can feel the deep romance that makes this place so unique. Next, we continue to the monumental, blown-up Krautturm (Herb Tower). Its imposing walls whisper to us dramatic tales of destruction and endurance. We pause to take in the impressive energy of this historic place.
Customize your castle experience to suit your preferences:
• Option 1 (courtyard & giant barrel): We enter the heart of the complex. The legendary Great Barrel awaits you in the magnificent castle courtyard – an absolute highlight that will leave you amazed! Of course, you will also hear the story behind it here. You will also get to know the guardian of the barrel – Perkeo. (Note: There is an additional entrance fee for the courtyard). Your tour ends on the large terrace. Afterward, you can also visit the German Pharmacy Museum and stroll through the large garden.
• Option 2 (Castle Garden): Together, we will stroll through the expansive Hortus Palatinus. On the terraces of the gardens, you can enjoy the world-famous postcard view over the Neckar and the Old Town.

Our tip: When you purchase a funicular ticket, the entrance fee for the castle courtyard is already included.
