The islands of Ko Lanta offer a beautiful setting for a day of relaxation and natural wonder on the sandy beaches and gleaming seas. You can go snorkeling at Ko Chueak and Ko Ma, explore the Emerald Cave on Ko Muk, and dine amid the beautiful scenery on the shores of Ko Ngai.
A traditional long-tail boat carries you from the pier by Lanta's Old Town to begin your adventure. Motor out for a visit to Ko Chueak, a little karst islet lined with sea caves and narrow, sandy beaches, and don your snorkeling gear for your first foray into the crystal-clear waters. You've got plenty of time to explore the surroundings filled with tropical sea creatures before the boat carries you onward for your visit to Ko Muk.
The largest island on your tour is famous for the Emerald Cave, named for its winding tunnel that glows green in the morning hours from reflected light in the water. The passage leads you to a sandy beach and hidden lagoon in the center of the island, where you can admire a sheltered retreat surrounded by towering cliffs.
Next, you're taken to the beach of Ko Ngai for a delicious picnic lunch with steamed rice, fried mixed vegetables, and Massaman curry. After you've eaten, you get some time to enjoy the island's interior of mountains covered in tropical forest, and then go snorkeling amid the magnificent corals just offshore. Look for the thousands of bats sheltering at nearby Ko Ma before you depart for the return trip in mid-afternoon.
