Sekino-ichi is a historical brewery that has been around since the Edo period (1603-1868). Local beer is brewed in a former sake brewery. Tour around the craft beer factory, sample 4 kinds of beer, and explore the Museum of Sake Folk Culture. In 1999, the brewery buildings were designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.

Chuson-ji Temple

Located to the north of central Hiraizumi, the temple complex of Chuson-ji began construction in the beginning of the 12th century when Hiraizumi was being built as a political and administrative base for Japan's northern territories, and took about a quarter of a century to complete. Of the structures in the complex, Chuson-ji Temple's Konjiki-do (Golden Hall) is the only structure that remains as it was when it was founded 900 years ago, and is Japan's first structure to be registered as a National Treasure. In addition, the Chuson-ji Temple area has been registered as a World Heritage Site in 2011 as "Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage."

Visit Oshu City Traditional Industries Museum [Nambu Ironware Museum] and see how Nambu ironware is made through videos and displays faithfully recreating a Nambu ironware foundry from the early Meiji period (1868-1912). Oshu City is also the hometown of a current major leaguer world-renowned for being a two-way player. There is a brass sculpture of an outstretched hand made using Nambu ironware techniques, and visitors can actually shake hands with it.

The industry took root as casters were invited into the region, producing items such as temple bells for Chuson-ji.
