We had a wonderful stay at Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora. It is truly designed for families from the great facilities for children to the kindness and helpfulness of every employee we met. The food was excellent, with dinners in particular being a highlight each day. A perfect choice for a relaxed family holiday.

Fabulous place

We had again a fantastic stay at Diadora. Special thanks to Katarina for being such a kind, skillful and interesting swimming teacher, to Matea and the animation team for the great entertainment, mini disko and the kids show. The opera at Iadera was awsome. And big thanks to the housekeeping team for your great work - our room was so clean every day!

is overall a decent property with a nice facility and acceptable cleanliness. There are also genuinely friendly staff members – especially Adam at reception, who was professional and helpful. Unfortunately, this positive impression is heavily damaged by serious service failures, particularly at the front desk. The most shocking experience was with KRISTINA at reception. A pre-confirmed, paid late check-out (already arranged with Adam days in advance) was suddenly denied by her with the explanation that the hotel was “fully booked.” She was visibly dismissive and unwelcoming. After briefly leaving, she returned within a minute and suddenly approved the late check-out anyway. When I politely asked how this sudden change was possible, her response in a 5-star hotel was: “You are able to leave also now.” This tone towards a paying guest with a family is completely unacceptable and honestly still shocking. Restaurant service was also inconsistent and poorly organized. Tables were cleared very slowly, and key stations like the coffee and kids pancake machines were often unattended or not refilled properly. Overall coordination felt chaotic rather than guest-focused. At dinner, even simple table handling turned into internal confusion among staff, with visible disagreements about priorities while guests were waiting. This does not reflect a well-managed service environment. To be fair, not everything was negative – the property itself is good and some staff try hard.

Family revisit for relaxing

Second time we stayed in this hotel. We came here to relax for two days before continuing our road trip through Croatia. The hotel is perfect for this. The rooms are spacious with all modern comfort. Outside you have great pools and a slide for the kids to enjoy. The buffets (breakfast and evening) are huge with for everybody something to their taste. The nearby city of Zadar is really worth a visit, you can already get a taste of it in half a day.

What a fantastic hotel! The staff was wonderfull and very friendly! The room was lovely, the kids loved the climbing area. The food was made with love. I especially loved the Indian/Thai food. The chef was friendly and always smiling. The playing areas for the kids were super. For every age something to do. Falkensteiner hotel thanx for this wonderful and relaxing vacation!

We have been there for 5 nights. It would be nicer if they could provide dinner with more options of warm dishes. The variety was really limited. This was the only shortage we have experienced. Overall, it is a great place for a family to stay, especially with smaller kids.

Not really a 5 star hotel but it was nice. The pool was lovely. Went half board but drinks in evening expensive which bumps up the cost. Rooms are not good for teenagers, beds not standard size. Asked reception for extra pillow 3 times but didn’t come, asked the maid instead who got one for us. Taxi to airport 60 euro, taxi to town 30 euro one way. Wouldn’t stay again but would recommend to anyone who has young children.

The hotel is fantastic for families with children. The beach has a beautiful environment with lots of greenery, and the waterslide by the pool is great — just like the smaller, covered pool for the youngest kids. The food and the variety of food were fabulous. What’s absurd and negative is the morning “reservation” of sunbeds by the pool with towels and personal belongings by people who arrived hours after we did — we almost had nowhere to put our things. The hotel does not address this situation and leaves it up to the guests to sort it out themselves. What’s also unfortunate is the condition of the beach. No one takes care of the service there — it’s pretty much wild and unmanaged. The sunbeds are scattered around and in rather shabby condition. Towels have to be picked up by the pool (they don’t give them out on the beach), and they’re exchanged for a paper card, which I consider nonsense and a burden on guests in the 21st century. For a room price of nearly €600 per night, the guest receives very minimal service by the pool and none on the beach. That said, the hotel was great, and so was the food. We’re grateful for the one-hour later check-out.

We did not perceive 5 Star quality: Cost was very high compared to what we experienced. Booked it because we thought 5 star would compensate the price. I loved that the hotel has a Kids Club. Our main reason for traveling was to give our 5 year old some fun. They can be dropped off and that’s a super. Breakfast and Dinner was good. Personnel is amazing: Kind, Patient and attentive. Unfortunately they are very overworked. You can see it in their eyes. They did not have enough staff to attend so much guest at once, which is unforgivable given the 5 Star category. Unlike many neighboring European countries, Croatia does not use the unified European Hotelstars Union system. Instead, it enforces its own legal framework, creating specific loopholes where "5-star" hotels may legally skimp on modern luxury. In this case it means: NO Minibar, NO toothbrush unless requested. No 24 hour Roomservice. Very uncomfortable Bed. Very bad quality Pillows. No bottle or wine opener. We requested a mattress topper to help us sleep but they don’t have any, they did accommodate us with an extra comforter and more pillows. We tried to burrow a wine opener but there was only 1 available in the hotel and it was for the bar. Tv in our room is in a location where we cannot watch tv in bed. The 5 star is the Staff who put up with little resources. Paid more than 3k Euros and was given a room next to the loading dock, where everyday the noise would wake me up or keep me up. Not going back.
