Quick check in. Very clean room, a little tired but kettle and lots of tea and coffee. Shower was good and lots of towels. Breakfast added to booking: excellent serving staff and the food was great. Lots of fruit and pasties. Cooked to items were quickly served and tasty.

Ambience. Staff. Bar and Breakfast great. In a wonderful location very close to my heart. Downside. No mention on any sites that, at the present, the Hotel is unable to provide any food other than Breakfast. It didn't impact my stay, as such, but I have enjoyed their bar and evening meals in the past. The staff very kindly recommended "The Plough" as an alternative food venue. However you need to be aware it only serves food 12-14:00 and 17-21:00 Monday to Friday and all day weekends. Evenings get booked up very quickly so go early. Looking forward to going back.

Great hotel, lovely staff. We were visiting family in York so didn’t need to use public transport, but there is a bus route outside to get into town. Clean tidy and comfortable bedrooms, beautiful gardens around the hotel. Would recommend and will be back again.

Staff are helpful and kind, and the property is very aesthetically pleasing. Super location for getting into the city easily. Though keep in mind it's an old building so the windows don't fully open, there's no AC and the fan they provide does absolutely nothing to cool you down...so with the warm weather be prepared to bake.

A nice individual hotel with excellent staff, friendly and informative. Characterful and comfortable room with an excellent shower!! Very conveniently located an easy 30 minute walk into York via the riverbank (past ice-cream boat). 7Kw EV charging at competitive prices and £15 charge for the car park. Nick on reception was very welcoming and the addition of a shared balcony to the room was an added bonus. Definitely a goon choice if you want somewhere with charm and a friendly atmosphere
