We been there 3 times already. Palace, Colonial and Caribe. Best rooms and beach - Palace, best food - Caribe.But you can go anywhere and choose whatever you want. will be back soon, we like everything there.

The hotel is great, well maintained , great location although a bit far from the airport but worth the trip, the buffet is very good as well, the only downside is the sargazo on the beach but other than that we had a great experience.

The properties are beautifully landscaped and lots of great big pools. Unfortunately there was maintenance work going on at a few of the pools but not too much of an eyesore. However, a large kid park/pool area was completely off limits. There were several pools to choose from which was nice. The beaches were pretty except for the seaweed and watch out for all the rocks in the water. We eventually found the Caribe Beach had barely any rocks. Besides that, the property is huge so if you don't like one area, you can find another one you prefer. Unfortunately it is so huge, I got lost a few times so wear good walking shoes/flip flops. Main issues were the rooms and the food. When we first checked in we found out that we were in the "standard" rooms

Resort was incredibly clean and beautiful. There was a ton to do so no need to schedule excursions. We saw/swam with sea turtles, octopus, stingray’s and many different fish right off beach. There is property is massive and the food is incredible at all buffets and restaurants. I promise you will not be disappointed.

We stay at the Premium-room level, and we liked the location of our room closed to the swimming pool, beach and gym areas. The room is advertised as "oceanfront" but this is not the same as "ocean view". We were located on the ground floor with no visibility to the beach. In my opinion, the property's beach is sub-standard compared to other beaches in this area. What is most impressive of this hotel is the amount and variety of family activities and restaurants. Our large family (about 15 people of total, ranging from kids to seniors) had a great time since there is something for everyone! Go-karts, paddle and pickleball, gym and spa, and buffet and specialty restaurants, swimming pool and beach and entertainment activities. And most of all, the staff, from lobby, restaurants, service, cleaning, is absolutely superb! I think this is what makes the Barcelo Maya hotel an excellent choice for a family vacation. Thank you.

Everything.. room, food, & amenities were spot on! We stayed in a premium room on the first floor of the Jaliscos section. Normally I would have preferred an upper floor, but our patio had a table and chairs as well as 2 loungers… part of scene but also private. It made for easy access to the pool, the lunch buffet, and running back to the room for anything. The kids completely enjoyed the pool and slides. We did do to the water park you pay for near the shopping and it was small, but the surfing piece was fun for the kids. It doesn’t have any food or drink, nor a convenient bathroom, so I’m glad we didn’t pay for an all day ticket. I do believe though all day allowed you to come and go. I also loved how you didn’t need to leave the resort for anything even though we typically do. The beach albeit covered in seaweed was so nice… lots of loungers and palm trees make for a nice chill spot to read and listen to the waves. I will say that I definitely wouldn’t mind returning to this resort!
